How to Use :
Before First Use: Steam the plates for 5-10 minutes to remove any natural cane residue and prevent sticking.
To Prepare Idiyappam:
- Rinse the cane plates in water and steam them for about 3 minutes to prevent the idiyappam from sticking.
- Lightly grease the plates with coconut oil or ghee.
- Press the idiyappam dough and spread the strands evenly over the greased plates.
- Place the prepared cane plate inside your steamer or idli pot.
- Steam for 7–10 minutes until soft and cooked.
Care and maintenance:
- After each use, rinse the plate thoroughly with clean water.
- Gently scrub using a soft brush to remove any residue.
- Dry completely in the shade – avoid direct sunlight.
- Ensure the plate is fully dry and moisture-free before storing to prevent fungus or odor.
